Places to visit when you come to Panama
Pacific Coast
Santa Clara & Farallón: These two beaches are located two hours from Panama City along the Pan American Highway. These are the closest to the city, best for swimming most beautiful beaches. Las Perlas Archipelago: Beautiful white-sand beaches, and excellent snorkeling. The ocean is very calm and perfect for swimming and calm-water swimming conditions. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway this place is for you since there are no crowds, even during the weekend. Isla Contadora is surrounded by dozens of uninhabited beaches waiting to be explored. There is a luxurious lodge on Isla San José called Hacienda del Mar.
Las Lajas, Chiriquí Province: This is a black sand beach and nature reserve that is ideal for swimming and bodysurfing. The water has perfect temperature! This is a very long beach (8 miles) and is great for horseback riding or walking. The beach is surrounded by rustic restaurants. We recommend bringing your own food and drinks.
Isla Coiba National Park: One of the most beautiful places on earth (the cruise ships stop here). It looks almost too fantastic to be true. There used to be a prison on the island that was established in 1912 and closed in July of 2004. To get to the island by land you can drive to Santa Catalina (about 3 hours from Santiago) and arrange a boat ride to the islands from there. Ask them to take you to Granito de Oro, you won’t believe the beauty of the place.
Caribbean Coast
Bocas del Toro: When you go to Bocas del Toro you will be busy all day with the wide range of activities. The islands offer:

San Blas Islands– Comarca Kuna Yala: The colorful Kuna indigenous population administers this province. The Kunas are very fascinating people; they are the makers of the famous Mola. The region is surrounded by 350 islands with beautiful white sand, turquoise water and coral reef. Scuba diving and consumption of alcohol are prohibited, and lodging is very rustic, but still worth a visit.
